Hi I'm Bryony and I make mugs for canal boaters, because I love the canals and believe that the people who love them too deserve something made just for them.

But mugs are only one part of my story...

I grew up around the canals but at that age I didn’t really know what it was that I found so special. All I knew was, that I looked forward to the days of rope swings, blackberries and racing to the next lock on my bike!

As a grown up, I started a project that returned me to my childhood and showed me a hugely untold story of the canals that goes back centuries, but more so was the stories of generations of PEOPLE who were born, lived, worked and died on our canals.

In May 2026 I made the decision to leave behind my hospitality job, and commit 100% The Gongoozler.

Each mug is slip‑cast in small batches and finished by hand. Alongside my own designs, you’ll find illustrations from guest artists who work closely with me to bring the stories of our canals to life.

The Gongoozler started at the Gloucester Waterways museum as an effort to highlight and spark curiosity about our Waterways! the 240 year old shape inspired by water jugs was just the start.

Every design is hand chosen and meticulously designed in collaboration with artists and boaters to tell their stories and share the things we love (and hate) about life afloat!
